Winter Wedding in Maine with Dreamy Dried Flowers
When thinking through wedding florals, we prioritize synching up the floral design to the season and location. Event flowers don't exist in a vacuum, they have to match their context and feel right where they are. In the case of this winter wedding inspiration shoot, we chose all dried flowers as that's what's real in Maine in winter; also, they're unexpected, dramatic, textured, and deeply beautiful. They worked so well because they also meshed with the location of this event. Pepperrell Cove in Kittery, Maine is a bright, clean, and modern venue that could absolutely highlight the the qualities of the materials we chose (this design wouldn't have worked in a barn, for instance, as it'd be textured brown flowers on textured brown wood) AND the material we chose highlighted the beautiful qualities of the venue. Symbiotic pairings are really the ideal in wedding design. We made the bridal bouquet in a trendy over-the-arm style so we could use longer, larger materials (dried flowers are stiff and don't drape in the way we like to make fresh ones). I also find it's a prettier, more natural way to hold a wedding bouquet. This winter wedding inspiration shoot was featured in an article about sustainable weddings in Magnolia Rouge.
